The “2024 Taiwan–Japan Excellence Entrepreneurship Grand Award” ceremony was jointly organized by the Japan Association of Individual Entrepreneurs and the Chinese Industrial, Commercial & Economic Trade Technology Development Association, with Excellence Magazine as a co-organizer. Yukihiro Amada, Chairman of the Japan Association of Individual Entrepreneurs, visited Taiwan last year to witness the inaugural awards and meet passionate entrepreneurs. “I realized that extraordinary passion is essential to building a successful business,” he said. Many Taiwanese entrepreneurs planning to expand into Japan were among this year’s winners, and Amada noted that he intends to lead an even larger delegation of Japanese entrepreneurs to Taiwan for future exchanges.

CHY Biotech, recognized in the SME category, was founded by three outstanding graduates of National Taiwan University. The company develops hydrogen generators that support wellness through hydrogen inhalation and hydrogen-rich water. Beginning with its entry into the Japanese market, the company returned to Taiwan with growing success in less than a decade—establishing itself as a leading force in the hydrogen industry. At the award ceremony, Marketing & Sales Manager Cheng-Yuan Wu and Jimmy Chen, Chairman of Sustainable Development Consulting, attended on behalf of the company.Professor San-Rong Liu, widely known as the “Father of Hydrogen Medicine,” once stated: “Hydrogen will be the key to human health in the future.”With Japan placing strong emphasis on preventive medicine, hydrogen-related products designed by the CHY Biotech team have already been exported back to Japan—creating a buzz and becoming an essential health-focused appliance for households across the country.
In Japan, a widely embraced trio for maintaining beauty and well-being has recently gained popularity: sunlight, hydrogen inhalation, and hydrogen-rich water—three daily elements believed to restore vitality.Jimmy Chen, Chairman of Sustainable Development Consulting, witnessed how hydrogen products have improved the health and everyday lives of Japan’s elderly population and hopes to bring the same benefits to Taiwanese families.Reflecting the Japanese spirit of craftsmanship, he notes:
“My goal is to make hydrogen inhalation accessible to everyone—so people across Taiwan know hydrogen products and the industry becomes part of everyday life.”
Looking ahead, Chen explains that the market strategy will focus on household-friendly and portable products, together with cross-industry collaborations across the wellness and leisure sectors. In Japan, hydrogen-based beauty and wellness practices have already been popular for more than a decade—not only through daily drinking of hydrogen-rich water, but also through pairing it with deep-sea shark oil, dietary supplements, or hydrogen-water facial masks, integrating hydrogen into lifestyle routines and advancing a comprehensive hydrogen-based wellness industry.
